- What types of fuel can I burn? Corn and wood pellets are the primary fuel sources. Other types of renewable fuels are possible. Consult your dealer.
- What type of corn works best? For best results, LDJ recommends a clean #2 corn.
- How clean does the corn have to be? The cleaner the better, no (or very little) cobs, stalks or fines.
- How does corn compare to wood pellets?
Corn tends to burn cleaner and has more BTUs per pound than wood pellets.
- What types of wood pellets can I burn? Most any premium grade wood pellet. Be sure that the pellets are consistent in length, no longer than 3/4 to 1" lengths. Consult your dealer for details.
- Can I burn coal? No, our units are not rated for coal.
- What are the BTU values of other fuels? Consult your dealer for details. Most fuels run around 8,000 BTUs per pound.
- Can I mix fuels?
LDJ does not recommend blending fuels. The combustion air mixture tends to be difficult to set with blended fuels. - At what moisture level should the corn be? 12-15% moisture. 15% is the max in order to sustain a good fire.
